Zebrawood: Zebrawood is an exotic wood native to the Western African countries of Cameroon and Gabon. It is a hard wood, with a medium to coarse texture. The Zebra-like appearance is due to the light colored sapwood in contrast with the dark colored grain.
Purpleheart wood: Purpleheart wood is a beautiful wood species. Deep, rich shades of purple which glisten when turned and polished. The wood comes from the tropical rain forests of French Guiana in South America. Purpleheart wood is used in hardwood flooring as trim colours, moldings in corporate offices, and beautiful furniture. The purpleheart tree grows in the rain forests of French Guiana. The trees can grow to a height of 120-170 feet with a diameter of four feet.
Rosewood (Cocobola): Cocobolo is an exotic wood native to Mexico, Panama, Costa Rica, and Nicaragua, and is favored for custom pool cues, fine furniture and cabinetry, inlays, and musical instruments. The wood is very durable and strong, with a fine texture. It is extremely beautiful, ranging in color from dark red to reddish brown, with an irregular grain pattern. Cocobolo has fantastic working characteristics, making it a favorite for turning and carving, and finishes very smoothly.
Padauk wood: Padauk is an exotic wood that is a bright orange or almost crimson wood when freshly cut, but oxidizes to a darker, rich purple-brown over time. Slightly harder and heavier than Rosewood it is a good wood in all respects - stable, and easy to work with. It often grows in small groups and is reported to be common in dense equatorial rain forests.
We use Gold Titanium and Chrome hardware, as these are much more durable and will far outlast the cheaper standard plating surfaces used with most pens. It may cost a bit more, but when so much work has already gone into making your beautiful exotic pen, only the best will do! We hope you enjoy!
