We are please to intoduce the handcrafted glass jewellery works by Rosario Torres and Edo Mor of Momo Glassworks, made with 100% reclaimed window glass, otherwise bound for the landfill. This kind of glass is initially made on beds of molten tin, so it retains a thin layer of tin on its surface that makes it un-recycleable afterwards. Transforming this material into jewellery is a daily miracle. Both Rosaio and Edo strongly believe in re-using materials, and incorporating as little precious metal into their jewellery as possible. You will find this piece to be generously thick and solid! The bail is silver-plated with a lacquer seal so it will not tarnish.

After the glass is cut into the desired shape, enamels are painted onto the glass surface. Enamels are blends of metal oxides, and as Rosario explains, "The majority of our enamels are 'home-made' - that is, we mix raw metal oxides and frit them down, in the ages-old way, with a porcelain mortar and pestle. Preparing our own colors grants us greater control over hue, opacity, and texture. After the enamel dries, each piece is painstakingly detailed with inclusions such as copper, mica, and aluminum. A second round of enamels is applied. The pieces are then fired, sometimes multiple times.

The piece you receive, will, of course, resemble what you see below. However, it may not look exactly like the photo — as you already know from reading the above, each piece is handmade and a product of naturally occurring variation during the enameling and firing stages. Rest assure it will be beautiful!
