"Twenty years from now you will be
more disappointed by the things you
didn't do than by the ones you did do.
So throw off the bowlines.
Sail away from the safe harbor.
Catch the trade winds in your sails.
Explore. Dream. Discover."
— Mark Twain
Heartwood Gifts is an online gift shop based on Canada's West Coast near Vancouver - on the boundary between beautiful White Rock and South Surrey, British Columbia.
We started this wonderful adventure in the fall of 2006 as a way to help meet the needs of our homeschooling family and to introduce our four children (that's right, four) to the world of business (great for teaching many of life's lessons). At that time we only sold puzzle boxes at craft fairs. These quickly became popular with our local customers (most likely because of my daughter's natural sales abilities), and prompted us to add other unique handmade gift items such as wine bottle holders and leather journals. Now with the help of the world wide web, we enjoy serving customer from all over the world!
If you are like us and admire the vision and quality of workmanship expressed through a personal creative touch, then we hope you will find something to your liking.
Do you have any questions, comments or suggestions? We would love to hear from you! Please see our Contact Us page to send us a message.

Company Benevolence
We believe very strongly in contributing our resources to help benefit local and international community programs and charities. To this end, we have chosen to support World Vision and Compassion International through their respective child Sponsorship programs. Both organizations are dedicated to releasing children from spiritual, physical, economic and social poverty and helping them reach their FULL potential, and become responsible, fulfilled Christian adults.
Founded by Rev. Everett Swanson in 1952, Compassion began providing Korean war orphans with food, shelter, education and health care, as well as Christian training. Today, Compassion helps more than 800,000 children in more than 24 countries.
Likewise, Dr. Bob Pierce began World Vision to help children orphaned in the Korean War by providing long-term, ongoing care for children in crisis, World Vision developed its first child sponsorship program in Korea in 1953. Since that time, it has now made a DIFFERENCE for hundreds of thousands of children and their communities in over 100 countries.
We would like to encourage more to get involved. To learn more about these two wonderful organizations by clicking on their respective links:
